Major and Career Exploration

Decisions about your major and career path should be informed by your Values, Interests, Passions, and Skills (VIPS). Utilize the Focus2 assessment or check out What can I do with this major? to jump-start this exploration.

Resumes and Cover Letters

Resumes and cover letters are important documents that showcase your experiences, skills, and interests. We encourage you to develop a resume freshman year and evolve it as you engage in experiences and develop new skills. Formatting guides and examples can be found on the School of Science Career and Internship site in Canvas.

Interviews

Interviews are an opportunity to demonstrate your skills, interest in the role, and match for a particular organization. Whether you are interviewing for an internship, job, or graduate program you will want to be prepared. Improve your interviewing skills using our Big Interview platform.

Getting started with the Purdue CCO Board

Once you are officially accepted to the School of Science, you can use the Purdue Center for Career Opportunities (CCO) job board. Follow the steps listed here to receive access.

  • Log into your IUPUI Student Center through one.iu.edu
  • On the bottom left corner, choose “My Profile”
  • Choose "Biographical Information" from the drop-down menu
  • Once there, you will see your Purdue ID listed as “External System ID”
  • Go to the Purdue job board MyCCO
  • On the righthand side, choose “Alumni Login” (all IUPUI students MUST choose this option to log in)
  • Choose “Sign Up” on the righthand side (only if this is your first time accessing the site)
  • You will complete a brief form with your name, degree, Purdue ID, etc.
  • The completed form is submitted to the Purdue CCO staff who will verify your status
  • You should receive an email once your account has been approved and may begin using the job board at that time
