Apply to join us at the School of Science

If you’re ready to be challenged, to dive in deep to scientific topics, and to grow in ways you never thought possible, you’re ready to apply to become a School of Science student.

You’ll start the admissions process by completing the IUPUI online application for your academic level.

How to apply for undergraduate admission to the School of Science

There are two ways to become a student in the School of Science.

  1. Direct admission as a beginning or transfer student
  2. Admission through University College after completing requirements

To be considered for direct admission, indicate your interest in one of our majors on the online application. We will automatically consider you for direct admit status if you meet the requirements.

Freshman and transfer students who are not eligible for direct admission to the School of Science will be admitted to the IUPUI University College STEM cluster as pre-science students. You will complete the same course of study as directly admitted students. Once you have completed the requirements you can apply to the School of Science as an internal applicant.

Remember these important deadlines

  • November 15—Deadline for automatic Dean of Science scholarship consideration
  • November 15—Deadline for Honors College application; you must be admitted to IUPUI before you can apply to the Honors College
  • March 15—Deadline for priority on-campus housing (Housing applications are available starting November 1)
  • April 15—File your FAFSA before this date for maximum financial aid consideration
  • May 1—Enrollment deposit is due

Admission as a current IUPUI student

Whether you’re a current University College student or are part of another school on campus, you’ll need to apply to the School of Science before you can declare a science major. To be eligible, you must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

The process is simple:

  1. Review the departmental requirements for admission on this page
  2. Complete the internal application

A decision will be emailed to you within four to six weeks. Please contact Darryl Newsom at danewsom@iupui.edu if you have any questions.
