Solar Eclipse 2024

Solar eclipse photography contest

A total solar eclipse will take place on the afternoon of April 8, 2024. Multiple IU campuses — including IU Indianapolis — will be in the path of totality, where the sun is completely eclipsed by the moon.

  1. The eclipsed sun: Photographs of the eclipsed sun taken with a telephoto lens or astrograph, typically mounted on a tripod or tracking platform.
  2. Eclipse day events and phenomena: Events and phenomena on eclipse day which may or may not include the sun. Examples include people viewing the eclipse, shadows, the sun, the sky, projected solar images, etc.
