Study overview

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the study, you must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • In treatment for any Substance Use Disorder at LifeSpring Health Systems or Fairbanks Addiction Treatment Center
  • Able to understand and complete interviews and surveys in English

Screening process

  1. Phone screening - You will be asked a few questions to see if you meet basic requirements to participate in the study.
  2. Interview - If you are eligible, you will be scheduled to speak with a research assistant either in-person, on the phone, or using telehealth video conference.

What is expected from you?

If you are eligible for the study, you will be invited to visit our lab for two or three experimental sessions where you will do some or all of the following:

  • Complete a 1-hour initial interview where we will ask you questions about your treatment history for Substance Use Disorder and your personal characteristics.
  • Allow us to access information in your medical chart about your treatment history at LifeSpring Health Center or Fairbanks Addiction Treatment Center.
  • Complete short follow-up interviews that will happen 2-4 times per year for up to three years. Interviews may be conducted in-person, online, over the phone, or through video conferencing.

Payment & benefits

Compensation

You will receive up to $430 total—$40 for completing the first interview and $20 for each of the follow-up interviews, and up to $150 in bonuses throughout the study for having completed all study follow-up periods.

Contribution to science

We hope that this study will help us better understand what recovery from Opioid Use Disorder looks like.
