INDIANAPOLIS – At the ceremony, Larry Williams and Margaret (Peg) Williams were recognized for their contributions to the field of industrial and organizational (I/O) psychology. Larry Williams’s Consortium for the Advancement of Research Methods and Analysis (CARMA) was noted as an invaluable research and teaching resource for the social sciences and Margaret Williams’s research on leadership, compensation and work-life issues was acknowledged as paving the way for women in academia.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The decisions mean that six Purdue science and math doctoral degrees will now be awarded from the Indianapolis campus, reflecting the programs' national prominence and success in obtaining external funding. These are long existing programs that have graduated many successful students.Previously, students enrolled in these programs at IUPUI but the degrees were credited to the West Lafayette campus.

INDIANAPOLIS -- IUPUI’s programs for incoming freshman and undergraduate success were highlighted in the report, including its first-year experiences, which help freshman feel more connected to campus. IUPUI was also recognized for its learning communities and service-learning programs.

IUPUI is tied for 197th in national universities and tied for 106th in top public schools.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Kent Hawryluk earned a master's degree in biology from the school in 2013. The Hawryluk Family Scholarship will provide funding for junior or senior science students to take essential coursework required for graduation. This scholarship will be awarded to students with a strong academic record and who work while attending the School of Science. Juniors and seniors will apply directly for these essential funds to help them complete their degree.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The finding suggests that models used to gauge the impact of drought on ecosystems should be refined to more accurately account for the role of low atmospheric humidity. INDIANAPOLIS -- Over the last decade, the program has placed more than 500 sophomores and juniors in internships focused on health and life science fields, providing them with a critical asset when they seek employment upon graduation: experience.

Last year, 197 students applied to the program, which has funding to place 75 students into internships that begin in August and continue through the academic year. There are more than 60 internship sites available to the students.

INDIANAPOLIS -- An internationally recognized researcher and educator, Cummins joins the School from the IU School of Medicine where he was a professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.  Previous academic appointments include director of Pain Basic Science Research Group at the Stark Neuroscience Research Institute and assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Yale University School of Medicine.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Before joining the IUPUI School of Science, Basu spent the last 22 years in education, research, service and administration at University of Arizona, University of Pittsburgh and, Duquesne University. Additionally, he worked with nonprofit organizations such as the Society for the Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh, in a variety of roles including serving as Chair of grants committees.
