Partner with PREPs for Student Success!

Departmental advisors and faculty members provide the highest referral rates in connecting students to the office, as students who are encouraged by faculty and staff are much more likely to take advantage of our services. We look forward to partnering with you in helping our students make the most of their experiences in the IUPUI School of Science. Here are some ways we can work together:

Refer an Employer

“Don’t Cancel Class”

We are happy to act as “subs” in the event that you need to be away from class. This program is designed to provide career-related instruction directly to students in the classroom while you are away due to professional obligations, conferences, or administrative responsibilities.

PREPs Staff Roles

Director Willow King Locke supervises the staff and manages the office. She ensures that guidelines provided by the National Association of Colleges and Employers are followed with regard to internships, employer relations, and national standards. Willow also maintains professional connections with campus, state, and regional associations and works directly with employers to connect to current students and alumni.

Assistant Director of Pre-Professional Advising, Marcy Carlson, is PREPs’ full-time pre-professional advisor. Marcy works with pre-professional students in the School of Science regarding both their academic and professional development.  She advises students individually as well as develops and conducts programming in the form of workshops and seminars to meet their needs.  Additionally, she conducts mock interviews, reviews resumes and personal statements.

Assistant Director of Career Advising, Latoria Thomas-Lee, helps students in the School of Science determine and acheive their career goals through one-on-one advising and professional development programming.

Joint advisor David Owen serves in the capacity of both academic and health professions advisor. This joint position works directly with post- bachelor’s non-degree seeking (SCI0) students finishing their prerequisite courses for professional school. David also serves as a liaison to University College on behalf of Science.

PREPs Communication and Design Coordinator Erin Sheets manages all office communications; this includes scheduling, event logistics, data collection and management as well as creative marketing, presentations, office literature, infographics, and web content.
