Ethics Training for Our Students
We are always so proud to be in our community of scientists and of the amazing discoveries and advances that come out of our School in such a variety of areas. Much of this productivity involves the work of undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. As we guide their work and training, it is important that we teach these students and fellows that the integrity of science depends on how it is done.
There are some excellent free resources to help us with this responsibility:
- “On being a Scientist” from the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine: Download PDF
- Indiana University online plagiarism tutorial and test
- IU is a member of the CITI consortium and IU students, staff, and faculty can take courses in the responsible conduct of research, human subjects, animal care and use, etc.
